Help Conserve 50 Acres and Create New Trail Access in West Newbury!
Nestled between Main Street and Coffin Street are 50 lovely acres that Greenbelt and the West Newbury Open Space Committee are working to protect. Conserving this land will allow for new trails and trail connections to Riverbend and other conserved areas. Keeping the forest and fields intact will protect important habitat and climate resilient features. West Newbury residents generously approved $175,000 in Community Preservation Act funds for the project, and Greenbelt is fundraising the remaining $75,000 needed to permanently protect this land. Please donate today! Thank you.

Osprey Season Winds Down
The 2021 nesting season is winding down, as the final chicks remaining in a few nests fledge. Greenbelt's webcam at Lobstaland Restaurant was another huge success this year, and the season's final data will be available soon. THANK YOU to dozens of volunteer community scientists who monitored nests and submitted over 1500 online reports!

New Farm Animals?
In case you haven't noticed, there is a new family of giraffes in Essex. That's right, giraffes! Purchased at Greenbelt's Art in the Barn, Stan Rusnak installed his new trio of giraffes - constructed of recycled horseshoes by sculptor Kris Francis - in his field at 132 Southern Ave in Essex. Give them a welcoming wave when you pass by!
